In the film and photo industry, you sometimes acquire access to a location you might not otherwise ever get to visit. The Salvation Army College for Officer Training at Crestmont, where this wedding occurred, is one of those places. It comes with Rancho Palos Verdes’ perfect weather and views. It also houses select scenes that lighting
enthusiasts (photographers, painters, and cohorts) would geek out over.
Some of my favorite photos to take would have been the more “character-driven” moments, emphasized by emotional contrast. One example is Ashley’s glee next to her father’s tearful face as they marched down the aisle. Being in the moment is all a photographer can ask for of a subject on an assignment with limited time. There were so many happy photos of the bride since she was genuinely having a great time on her wedding day.
