Pasadena Engagement – Pasadena City Hall

I met this couple for an engagement shoot at the Pasadena City Hall, an architectural treat with plenty to offer. Needless to say, I’m very psyched to share a few moments from this set.

Being Parks and Rec fans, this location held some significance (may be an understatement) to the two of them. I have not watched the show before, but we connected on Simpsons trivia, the pop culture staple that may be the only common grounds holding our society together in these tough times.

We skipped the tourist photos with the Christmas tree and the front of the building dominating the background and it paid off. A bit of distance highlights the architecture even more and we don’t need the whole place in frame. I vastly post color photos, but have a wider mix of black and white edits from this shoot.

Note: During the shoot, I opined that it’s unfair for a couple to look this good and dance well and I still stand by my statement.

Marina del Rey – LMU + California Yacht Club

Some days you steal a few moments wherever you can find them, other days like these, you have some extra time and a relatively small bridal party, allowing us the luxury of making plenty of portraits. Bride being a fan of candids and portraiture scores bonus points.

In recent posts, I feature a lot of walking together down the aisle shots. Not that I don’t capture first kisses, but it’s the photo everyone and their mother gets. I really like photographing a couples’ first march back together as a newly wedded couple. Also, it’s a front row and center seat giving you an exclusive privilege.

Weather and light in Marina del Rey are a bit too perfect. I suppose I still have my East coast mentality, expecting patchy clouds, humidity, and who knows what else.

Wedding in downtown LA – Los Angeles Athletic Club

A few moments from a wedding at the Los Angeles Athletic Club. Everything took place at the same location, albeit on different floors. These layers to the venue make a really nice visual story and I picked shots that had layers of their own, whether it’s the ceremony on the rooftop or the first dance in the ballroom.
